Mrs. Shirley Crabtree
September 6, 1933 — March 20, 2011
Shirley Ann Strickler Crabtree, 77, passed away on March 20, 2011. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS, 66210. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 11811 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO, 64114. A second visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following the services at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 55 years, Reverend Robert E. Crabtree; daughter, Juli Crabtree (Don Horvath); son, Ron Crabtree (Jill Simmons); grandson, Austin and granddaughter, Sydney. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Kay (Allen); nephew, Jim Thompson and her niece, Jill Gordon, all of California. Shirley also leaves behind many dear friends whose company she enjoyed and with whom she enjoyed golfing, skiing, hiking, horseback riding and traveling. Shirley taught public school at the elementary level for 27 years in the Kansas City, Grandview and Olathe school districts.
In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to: The Dr. Dwight and Esther Strickler Scholarship Fund, Olivet Nazarene University, Office of Development, One University Avenue, Bourbonnais, IL 60914.
