Shirley Evangeline Streit, 78, of Overland Park, Kansas went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2008, surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Erie, PA. on November 1, 1929. She was preceded in death by parents Horace and Beulah Adams, daughter Norma White and grandson?s JD Ragsdale and Greg Cook.
Shirley leaves behind her husband of 32 years Edwin Streit, daughter Deborah Lammers, and three stepchildren Webb Streit, Laura Cook, and John Streit. Shirley?s grandchildren, Michael Wallace, David Wallace, Natalie Hoover, Heather Lobough, Jamie Streit, Jeff Streit, and Jennifer Zamzow, were a source of great joy and happiness.
Shirley was a long standing member of Valley View United Methodist Church of Overland Park, Kansas. Shirley was drawn to a career in childcare and devoted her life to being a ?grandma? to thousands of children over the years. Although small in stature, Shirley had a huge heart and possessed a unique ability to touch the lives of everyone she met. Shirley dedicated her life to the happiness of others and will always be remembered as ?Grandma Shirley?.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday July 3, 2008, at 2:00pm at Valley View United Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. Burial to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.
