Sondra Dawn Riggs, age 46, of Olathe, KS passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Royal Terrace Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel Monday, March 19th at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
Sondra is survived by her mother Rosetta, her brother Larry and wife Dvonna, and sister Marilyn Peters and husband Chris. She is also survived by nephews Jeremy Riggs and wife Natalie, Jason Riggs and wife Megan, Jeff Peters and wife Sylvia, Sean Peters and wife Kristen, Tyler Peters, niece Jamie Leach and husband Nicholas and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Sondra was born August 13, 1965 in Kansas City, Mo to Virgil and Rosetta Riggs. Sondra Graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. She lived and worked most of her adult life at COF Training Center in Ottawa and Burlington, KS among a host of friends and associates. She worked in the sheltered workshop and was a top performer. Due to declining health, Sondra moved to Olathe, KS in February 2012 to be near family.
Sondra was cheerful, loving and outgoing and made friends wherever she was. She impacted may people with her childlike faith and trust. Most of all she learned to love Jesus at an early age. Sondra will be greatly missed but her memory and influence will live on.
