Stan Vaughan

Jones Stanley Vaughan Jr. age 72 of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on May 27, 2018, at Sunrise of Overland Park. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation of the Heartland.

Jones Stanley Vaughan Jr. was born January 19, 1946 in Courtland, Alabama, the son of Jones Stanley Vaughn Sr. and Josephine Martin Vaughan. He was a graduate of Courtland High School, Class of 1964, and continued his legacy at Wichita State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. Stan worked as a Chief Financial Officer for Preferred Plus of Kansas and Healthcare America Inc. in Wichita, Kansas. He later moved to St. Joseph, Missouri with wife Trish Vaughan where he worked as a Director of Finance for Community Health Plan. Stan returned to school at age 60 and received his MBA from Baker University.

Stan will be remembered for his quick wit and stories of growing up with the “gang” in Alabama. Described as a modest man, Stan enjoyed southern cooking, BAMA (Roll Tide!), coaching little league, Nascar, and was a trapshooting champion. He never missed a BAMA game and could be seen glued to the television cheering on his team. After retirement, Stan became a board member for The Center in St. Joseph which provides accessible professional counseling, psychological, and psychiatric services.

Stan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Trish and his children Chris, Susie, and Nick. Cousins, friends, and those lucky enough to know him are grieving for one of the nicest human beings ever known. Stan was every bit a southern gentleman, good-natured and meticulous in appearance.

Private services will be held for the family.

A special thank you to Sunrise of Overland Park, Ascend Hospice, and Heartland Parkinson’s Foundation for the love and kindness they showed Stan and family.
