Stephen (Steve) E. Kalen, Olathe, KS passed on to his greater glory Sunday, July 21, 2013 around 8:00 am at his home.
Steve is survived by his parents Ken and Elaine Kalen, his brother Daniel Kalen, his wife Lynne Kalen and his 3 children: Amanda Kalen, Michelle Hadachek and Parker Kalen. Steve was also survived by his son-in-law Tim Hadachek.
Steve was born June 23rd 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. Steve attended Somerset Elementary School, Meadowbrook Junior High School and Shawnee Mission East High School. He also attended Pittsburg State University and graduated from Kansas State University.
Steve served 3 years in the United State Marine Corps with distinction, and was honorably discharged in 1979. Steve was always proud that he had served his country and was also very proud of the role his father played in the 2nd World War.
Steve always expressed his love for family, friends and his pets. He was an avid racing fan and was particularly fond of Formula 1. Throughout his life Steve had become a scuba diver and private pilot and always maintained a heightened sense of adventure.
Steve retired from Sprint Corp. after 20 years of distinguished service where he received numerous meritorious distinctions as an operational manager.
Throughout his final days, Steve expressed his love for his family and friends repeatedly to his brother Dan.
