It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Russell Lane at the University of Kansas Medical Center on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was 68 years old.
Beloved husband of 46 years to his best friend and wife, Crista Lane.
Dedicated and loving father of Matthew (Holly) Lane and Jonathan (Elaina Newton) Lane.
Proud grandfather of Brooklyn and Charlotte Lane.
Dear brother-in-law of Randa (Steve) Vollertsen of Norton, Kansas; Pamela (Bob) Topping of Seattle, Washington; Diana Swindler of Cambridge, Nebraska; Jonna (Zeke) Inman of Oberlin, Kansas and son-in-law to Kelva Dryden of Oberlin, Kansas.
Son of Joanne Lane of Prairie Village, Kansas, and the late Eldon Lane, predeceased by brother Douglas Lane.
He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and good friends.
Steve took pride in providing for his family and worked until his death as a civil engineer and manufacturer representative owning Shockey-Lane Inc. and later Brookside and Lane Associates.
He loved his family, pets (especially cats), relaxing at home, a tall glass of iced tea, a good single malt scotch, and spending time with his dearest friends Janet and Jeff Razafsky.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Michigan and Walt Disney World, taking cruise trips, shooting trap/skeet, and Friday afternoon movies with his wife.
Private family services. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alpha Nu Educational Foundation and mailed to Beta Theta Pi at the University of Kansas, Gifts Processing, P.O. Box 2187, Columbus, GA 31902-2187 in memory of Steve.
