Steve E. Abbott, 64, passed away on June 12, 2012. Steve was born July 13, 1947 in Overland Park, Ks., oldest of six children born to Warren and Evelyn Abbott. He attended Shawnee Mission West.
In 1967, Steve was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent 13 months in Vietnam.
After his discharge, Steve came home and eventually started working with his father in the tile industry. He ended up taking over the family business and renaming it Steve's Tile.
Steve was preceded in death by his father and three brothers. He was survived by his mother, his brother Mike Abbott, his sister Pam Abbott-Wall, his ex-wife and friend, Mary Abbott, also by his three daughters, Shannon Kielman and husband Mike, Kelli Criss and husband Marlon, and Shelli Abbott and her boyfriend Eric, six grandsons, Spencer, Trevor, Nathan, Rey, Amir, and Amari, and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:30 with memories to be shared at 2:30 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. Since Steve enjoyed the simple life, the family requests casual attire.
