Sue Anderson

Sue Ann Roberts Anderson, a loving wife, a devoted mom, a fun “Grandee” and a wonderful friend to many passed away on February 12, 2018. She was 75 years old. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of Harley and Fredia Roberts. Sue made every occasion special and had a purse and a front door wreath for every special day. Sue graduated from the University of Missouri and later obtained a Master’s in special education. Before having children, Sue taught first and second grade in Columbia, Missouri and at Prairie School in Prairie Village, Kansas and was a teacher favorite among the students.  After her children were born, she devoted all of her time, attention and love to them. Still focused on her family, she found time to serve on several community boards and volunteer organizations. When her family was young, she loved to cook, needlepoint, entertain and work in the garden.  She held a special place in her heart for the hearing impaired program in the Shawnee Mission School District where she devoted many years as a substitute teacher once her children were older.  Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and beloved dogs at the family lake home in Laurie, Missouri for almost 20 years. Sue was kind and gentle-hearted. She will be forever remembered as singing “You Are My Sunshine” during happy and sad times.  We will all sing it a little louder now.  She will be cherished and loved forever. Sue is survived by her husband, Dr. Clifford V. Anderson, daughter Abbey(Jeff) Gentle, daughter Emily(Cody) McRady, son Jon Northcraft and five doting grandchildren: Meredith and Bennett Gentle; Harley, Fletcher and Abbigale McRady. Friends may call from 10-11:00am Friday February 16th  with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf.
