Susan K. Blackwell, 59, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away the evening of Monday, January 26, 2009, at St. Luke's South Hospital.
The daughter of Bonnie and Tom Whistler, Susan was the eldest of three daughters. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School, and went on to Emporia State University. There she met and married Jerry Blackwell on March 10, 1973. Susan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman of extreme kindness and generosity, who always put others before herself. She was greatly loved, and will be sorely missed and remembered often. Susan was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Whistler. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Blackwell; her mother, Bonnie Whistler; her son, Chris; her daughter, Stacey Henry and husband Derek; her grandchildren, Brady and Charlotte; and her two sisters, Sandra Whistler and Robin O'Neill; and nieces, Courtney and Kellie.
A private memorial service will be held for the family.
