Susan Marie Flaskerud passed away August 10, 2018 after a year-long battle with duodenal cancer. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 10, 1963. Susan is survived by her mother, Lorraine Carman Flaskerud of Overland Park, KS and her husband, David Hurlburt of Lenexa, KS. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Roger Flaskerud and brother, Michael Flaskerud. She leaves behind her aunt Irene Maring, cousin Richard Offerdahl, best friends Trisha and David Nelson as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends.
Susan graduated high school from Shawnee Mission South and holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. After graduating she took a modeling job then started her own photography studio called F4 Photography, naming it after her favorite Nikon camera. She was an artistic wedding and personal photographer as well as a painter. In later years she bought her own restaurant which is still in business, JJ's Cool Change in Overland Park, KS.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Overland Park, KS. She loved all animals and people and modeled her life after Mother Teresa and would not turn her back on a soul.
A visitation will be held at 2 PM, service 3 PM, on Tuesday, August 21, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS . A celebration will be held following the service at her restaurant JJ's Cool Change at 9058 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Susan's request was that everyone should wear white and celebrate her life, not grieve her passing.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The University of Kansas Cancer Center in her name, 4001 Rainbow Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66160.
