Susan Kurtz Morgan, 69, of Stilwell, KS, passed away on November 3, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House after a nearly 2 year struggle with Ovarian Cancer.
She was born on February 13, 1945 in Kansas City, KS, to John and Jayne Kurtz. Susan graduated from Southwest High School, and went on to the Kansas University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
Susan worked for ten years at Bayer Crop Science where she met her husband John Morgan in 1971 and had their daughter, Katie in 1983 before moving to Stilwell. After the birth of their daughter, Susan stayed home to raise her family and remodel the house they bought in 1986.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. Kurtz Sr. and Jayne Elice Eckles.
She is survived by her husband John Morgan of the home; daughter, Melissa K. Morgan of Stilwell, KS; brother, John L. Kurtz Jr. of Westwood Hills; sister, Sharron Shields of Lenexa, KS; nieces, Paige Jackson of Overland Park, KS, Laura Roberts of Lenexa, KS, Allison Kurtz of Mission, KS; nephew John L. Kurtz III of Dresden, Germany; and great nephews and great nieces.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to Doctors without Borders, Wounded Warrior Project or the Salvation Army.
