Susan L. Zachariah, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away January 7, 2019 surrounded by her family. Susan was born in Kansas City, MO on March 19, 1945. She was predeceased by her biological father Frank Reeves, her mother Shirley Sparks, her step-father Leo Sparks, and her nephew Sparky Reeves.
She is sorely missed by those who loved her including her husband David Zachariah, son Randall Wells, daughter Shelly Kaster and son-in-law Mark Kaster, brothers Jack and Tom Reeves, grandchildren; Zach, Collin, & Taylor Wells, Cole & Carly Kaster, great grandsons Oliver & Theodore Wells, nephews; Jack, Kirk, Quint, Tom and Dennis Reeves, and her best friend Mary Van Cleave.
Our beautiful loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law and friend fought valiantly against both dementia and cancer. She was such a strong person never complaining as she suffered through chemo and radiation all while also knowing that she was losing her fight with dementia. She is so very missed by her friends and family.
Susan graduated from Crocker High School in 1963 and went on to attend college before marrying and eventually settling to raise her family. She worked for many years at the Social Security Administration in Kansas City. She also worked for the Blue Springs School District in Blue Springs, MO, Optec DD, Inc. in Mexico, MO, American Roller in Oak Grove, MO and Boeing Corp in Tulsa, OK.
In 1995 she married David Zachariah and moved to Russia for a short time before they were transferred back to Tulsa, OK. They also resided in The Woodlands, TX for many years as well as living in London, England for nearly two years.
More than anything Susan enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to travel including trips to, Hawaii, Cabo, Australia, Paris, Abu Dhabi, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, gardening, as well as crocheting/knitting.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Martin City Event Space at 2pm Sunday, January 20, 2019.
