FASSETT, Suzanne Worthington Suzanne (Sue) Worthington Fassett was born on March 19, 1931, to Cecil and Leota Foot. Shedied peacefully of complications of vascular dementia on February 6, 2015, and entered into thepresence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sue attended the University of Kansas, graduated from the University of Missouri in 1953 and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married Keith R. Worthington in 1952 and cared for him lovingly throughout his 12 year battle with ALS. She volunteered with the KeithWorthington Chapter of the ALS Association in Kansas City, which she and Keith founded, for 20 years. After Keith's death in 1984, Sue worked in patient services, traveling throughout Kansas and Missouri visiting with and encouraging ALS patients and their families. Sue and Keith were active members of Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church and Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, and of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. Sue served as President of the Women of the Church at Ward Parkway. Sue married James O. Fassett in 1990. They belonged to First Methodist Church of McKinney, where she was a Stephen's Minister, and became members of First United Methodist Church of Richardson after relocating to Highland Springs Retirement Community in 2007. In the last months of her life, Sue hosted a Lady-Links group who made uplifting cards for Highland Springs residents. Sue was beautiful inside and out and will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and her abiding faith. She was a painter who loved her family and friends, flowers, birds and dogs. She is survived by her husband, Jim Fassett, daughter Sharon Johnson and husband Ron, son Kevin Worthington and wife Jan, son Kirk Worthington and wife Ann, grandchildren Lauren Eastburn and husband Justin, Kristen Lesher and husband Barrett, Audrey Miles and husband Jason, Ashley Worthington, Whitney Worthington and Charlie Worthington, great grandsons Parker and Preston Eastburn and Andrew Lesher, sister-in-law Diane Simpson and her children Grover Simpson, Jay Simpson, Libby Shoup, Anne Byrne and their families, cousins Carol Siebert, Nancy Anderson, John Anderson and their families, and stepdaughters Martha and Nancy Fassett. A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, in the main diningroom at Highland Springs Retirement Community, 8000 Frankford Road, Dallas, TX 75252, Rev. Pete Robertson officiating. A service officiated by Rev. Lana Russell will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, in the chapel at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66210, where Sue will be interred with her first husband Keith. The family would like to thank all of those who helped care for Sue during the final year of her life.
