Tae Young Yoon, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a short illness. She was 86 years old.
She was born in Pyong-yang, Korea and moved to Seoul, Korea during the Korean War. She worked for Hyundai Construction Company until she met and married Jung Hee Young in 1955. She raised two sons and one daughter with him until his passing in 1989.
She immigrated to the U.S. in 1973 with her family and settled in the Kansas City area. Using skills she acquired during her time as a dress shop owner in Seoul, she worked in the garment industry in Kansas City until her retirement. After her husband’s passing she learned how to drive at the age of 63 and continued to drive until shortly before her passing.
She was a feisty woman with strong will to survive that got her through war and tragedies in her life. She loved her family, friends, and her God. Throughout her life, she was a faithful Catholic and a loving wife, mother and grandmother who fiercely protected those around her.
She leaves behind her children; Inwoo (Agnes) Yoon, Selena (Michael) Varady and Justin (Harina) Yoon, six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Her family hopes God will send his angels to guide her to Him and all her loved ones who preceded her in death, and to join her when their time comes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on July 19,2014 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9130 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, KS.
