CHARLES T. ELLIOTT
Charles T. Elliott, 93, Olathe, Kansas passed away May 3, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Charles was born October 5, 1917, in Wild Cherry, AK. In 1936 he went to Paducah, KY, with his brother to help clean up from the Ohio River flood. While they were there they found themselves a better position at a local radio station, WPAD. Charles played the guitar and his brother played the mandolin, their show was called "The Elliott Brothers." Charles was married to Dorothy Wayland in 1938 and they moved to Indianapolis, IN, during WWII where he worked for Curtis-Wright building airplanes. He was called up by the Army in 1945, but the war ended just before he was inducted. They moved to Kansas City in 1953 and lived here the rest of his life.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Elliott; son, Charles Keith Elliott; daughter, Carolyn Elliott; and grandson, Jamie Murphy.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Mike) Murphy; and grandsons, Dennis B. Murphy and Douglas S. Murphy.
The family would like to send a special "thank you" to Dr. Short, the team of Hospice of Kansas City, and the staff of Olathe Homestead North.
