Thelma A. Nichols, 100, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Thursday August 30, 2007, at home. Memorial services will be 11AM Thursday September 6th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. The family requests no flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall Ave. Mission, KS 66202.

Mrs. Nichols was born August 28, 1907 in Overbrook, Kansas and graduated from Overbrook High School. She attended Washburn University where she was a member of Delta Gamma. She later attended Nebraska University, and taught at Prairie Elementary school in Prairie Village, Kansas from 1946 until her retirement in 1971. Earlier, she taught children?s classes at the Nelson Gallery of Art.

She was a member of Countryside Christian Church, the Johnson County Retired Teacher?s Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Friends of Art, the Art Study Club, President?s and Past President?s, and the Kansas City College Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh William and Delia Ware Allen, her husband, Frank G. Nichols of 56 years; daughter, Nan Nichols Morris; brother Hugh Allen of Denver, Colorado; and brother Harold Allen of Topeka, Kansas. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Bleakney and husband, Brian, of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Virginia Allen of Topeka, KS.
