Thelma M. Perkins, age 96, Derby, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born November 21, 1910 in Troy, Kansas to Samuel Lewis Mansperger and Ethel Maude Newbury. Thelma was one of six children in her family, three boys and three girls. She married Dale Perkins December 26, 1939 in Troy, Kansas. Thelma was employed at the courthouse and Dale was teaching school in Troy. During the years following their marriage, Thelma & Dale lived in Texas, Missouri, Florida, and Arkansas, before coming to Kansas in 1947. Thelma was employed at JC Penney from 1958 until she retired in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband Dale. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Miller, Derby, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jill, Parma, Ohio, Susan, Wichita, Kansas, and Jeff, Derby, Kansas; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Payton, Katelyn, Bryce, Paige, Brenna, Sydney, and Drake.
A celebration of Thelma?s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4th at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, with a gathering of family and friends 12:00 ? 1:00 p.m. preceding the service. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
