THOMAS S. DUGAN, 87, of Overland Park, KS, died Friday evening, May 16, 2014. He was a devoted and beloved husband and father.
Thomas was born on September 2, 1926, in Kansas City, MO. He spent most of his childhood in the Kansas City area, served as an Alter Boy at St. James Catholic Church and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Paseo High School, where he was enrolled in R.O.T.C., and then went to Washington University.
He served in the Army Air Force and was trained as a Right Gunner on a B52 Bomber during WW II, and was decorated with a WW II Victory Medal. After his military service, he married Viola E. Glaze on April 23, 1946. Thomas retired as a U.S. Postal Service Supervisor after 38 years. He was a builder, an artist and an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Viola Dugan of the home, a daughter Linda (Dugan) Blackford of Newport Beach, CA, and a son Dwight Dugan of Overland Park. He is also survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mass will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 21 at Cure' of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS 66206. Burial following Mass at Park Lawn/Green Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO 64138.
