Thomas Rose

September 7, 1943 — September 7, 2008

Thomas M. Rose, 65, of Overland Park, Kan., died unexpectedly of a heart attack in the Galapagos Islands on September 9, 2008, while vacationing with his wife Sandra and enjoying two of his many loves -- the sea and the natural beauty of the world.

A California native, Tom and Sandy came to make Kansas their home in 1976 and it is here that they raised their cherished family and became active members of the community. Tom lived life to its fullest potential and will be missed for his outstanding attributes, one of which was his truly unique sense of humor. Tom spent many years as a financial planner and recently retired from Robert W. Baird. He looked forward to further pursuing his life dreams, continuing his dedication to community service, and enjoying his myriad of hobbies which included ham radio, target shooting, and model making.

A devoted and cherished husband, father, grandfather "Poppy," and brother, Tom leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra; son, David Rose and wife Stacy and their children Morgan, Jordan, Jackson, and Emma; daughter, Dyana and husband Brian Daniel and their children Austin and Addison; daughter, Danielle Rose; sister, Janie Rose; mother-in-law, Janet Barnes; his treasured companion, Slippers; and countless other relatives, friends and colleagues. Tom will live in all of their hearts and memories forever.

The family invites you to a celebration of Tom's life followed by a reception on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. at the Ritz Charles, 9000 W. 137th Street, Overland Park.
