Thomas Jay Schneider, 65, of Kansas City, passed away on June 18th, 2015.
Tom was born November 5th, 1949, in Beloit, KS, to Neva & Virgil Schneider. He graduated from Beloit High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1968 where he served as a Hospital Corpsman until 1972, when he was honorably discharged. Tom met his wife shortly thereafter and was married in 1974 in Salina, KS. Their son was born in 1979 and daughter in 1983. Tom and his family relocated to Kansas City where he began working at Comfort Sales in 1985. He stayed with the company until his retirement. Tom enjoyed working with his hands and had a knack for using his creative mind for designing many unique woodworking crafts.
Tom will forever be remembered by his wonderful sense of humor, kind spirit, and gentle heart and for the love and generosity he showed to others.
He passed away at The University of Kansas Hospital due to complications with a long-term battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Neva Schneider and father, Virgil Schneider. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Schneider, son Kevin Schneider (Katherine), daughter Christy Ray and brother Leon Schneider (Vickie).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on June 24th, 2015 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66210. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation and the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
