THOMAS STROUD
Thomas Stroud, age 86, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born July 19, 1924, in Kansas City, MO, to Thomas Skinner and Bernice Miller.
Tom was the oldest of 4. He married Virginia Lee Sharpe (Susie) in Sedalia, MO, on Nov. 03, 1945. They had 3 children. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated, along with wife Susie, in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration. Tom served in the 70th Tank Battalion in North Africa and Central Europe in World War II and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, He was an independent financial consultant for most of his career and a long-time member of the Antique Toy Club of America, serving as Treasurer and financial advisor for many years.
Tom will be remembered by his loving wife Susie and their children Mike (and wife Patty) and Jeff (and wife Lea). He was preceded in death by his sister Harriet and his daughter Teresa. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley, Drexel, Mo and Judy, Columbia, S.C., grandchildren Tyler, Alex and Jamie Stroud, all of Overland Park, Traci Reuter, Tammy Baade and Ken Stroud, all of Centennial, CO, Dan Dierker, New York, NY, Eddie Dierker, Overland Park and Anthony Stroud, currently serving in the U. S. military, his great grandchildren Heather, of Wichita KS, Josh, Daniel and Christian Reuter of Centennial, CO and Carmen Dierker of Overland Park, nieces Melody Mettes, Colorado Springs, CO, Carol Barrow, Drexel , MO, Lori Cooney, Santa Clara, CA, Linda Craven, Liberty MO, Gwen Watson, Columbus, OH, Julie Carpenter, Gilbert, SC and Steve Johnson, Greensboro, NC.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life for Tom at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, at Colonial Church, 7039 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Inurnment will follow at Colonial Church.
