Tim Tierney, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, September 19, 2023 at home in Leawood, KS.
Tim was born October 4, 1939 to William P. Tierney and Harriette (Hassie Mote) Tierney in Wichita, KS. Tim graduated from Wichita West High School. He then went on to study engineering receiving a B.S. (Wichita University) and Masters (Wichita State University) in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
After graduating, he worked at Beech Aircraft, Coleman Company and Jack DeBoer; all while in Wichita. In 1974, he moved his family to the Kansas City area and worked in the oil refining business until retirement.
Tim was an avid golfer but was more well-known as an instructor of the game. He had the ability to significantly improve one’s golf game by observing just a few swings. Aside from golf, Tim was passionate about his politics and always enjoyed a good and lively conversation. Above all, Tim was proud of and dedicated to his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Karin (Elliott) Tierney of 58 years and his sister, Mary Jo Smith, along with 3 sons; Tim Jr. (Yara), John (Laura), and Chris (Lauren). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Alexia, Kathia, Erin, Mia, Quinn, Greer, T.J. and Schull.
