Toni Sue Simpson Hampton, known also to students as Mrs. Hervey and Mrs. Baggerly, 71, of Overland Park, KS died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. Toni was born on July 26, 1945 in Severy, KS to Carl and Betty (Jarrett) Simpson. She was a beloved, life-long educator who taught at Coronado Jr. High, Nallwood Jr. High, and Shawnee Mission South High School.
Toni was preceded in death by husband, Gene Hampton, and brother, Doug Simpson. She is survived by daughter, Doty Shepard, grandsons Josh, Logan, and Zaden Shepard, brother, Archie “Gene” Simpson and wife Rhonda, nephew Michael Simpson and wife Barb, nephew Heath Simpson and wife Jenny, niece Jennifer Simpson and husband Juan Herrera, niece Stephanie Simpson and great-niece Kynlee, step-daughter Suzan Hampton and husband Kourosh Raeen, step-daughter Sheryl Hampton and husband Tim Huggins, and grandson Alex Huggins.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and legacy on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2:00pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel,11200 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, KS. All who attend are invited to wear red, blue, or Jayhawk garb to honor her enthusiasm for KU basketball.
