Trina Jo Ruel, 54, of Overland Park, Kansas joined her lord August 25th, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.
Trina was born December 18th, 1964 in Oxford, Nebraska to Gary and Norene Wendland. As she came into this world, we had no idea the kind of impact she would leave on those that she touched. Trina was an outgoing, fun-loving, courageous woman. She was a person we often went to for advice, comfort, or just to get a better outlook on life. One could always fine comfort, empathy, and understanding when talking to her. She could bring calm and comfort during an emergency or liven up a party by walking into a room. With her tenacious, fiery ways, it was never a dull moment. Whether she was at a Chief’s football game or at home reading a good book, she lived life to the fullest. Trina never took others or life itself for granted.
Trina was a 1983 graduate from Decatur Community High School. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Kansas State University receiving a Bachelor of Science and then attended Rockhurst College where she achieved her second Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Trina then went on to have a rewarding career with Olathe Home Health for nearly 20 years.
On July 17, 2017 Trina married Mick Ruel. With him he brought two beautiful children, Austin and Taylor Ruel and she opened her arms to them as if they were her own in joining them with her own two loving children Jared and Bailey Schroder.
Trina is survived by her husband Mick Ruel, son Jared Schroder, daughter Bailey Schroder, granddaughter River, step-son Austin Ruel, step-daughter Taylor Ruel, mother Norene Jording, sister Tammy McDonald and her husband Bryan, brother Dale Kempt, sister Susan Jording, and brother Cobe Jording and his wife Tarry.
Trina’s connection to her faith, family, and friends from childhood, high school, college, and beyond were the most important to her. As we celebrate her life, we will remember how lucky we are to have her as a part of our lives and the huge impact she made on all of us.
Trina had a special love for retired Greyhounds and the family suggests in lieu of flowers donation be made to:
