Tyis Jerone Smith arrived in this world 12 minutes before his identical twin on March 15th, 2001 at KU Medical Center in Wyandotte County Ks. Tyis is a Class of 2019 graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School. Upon completion of high school, he studied at Johnson County Community College completing his first year of HVAC Technology courses. He recently accepted a work internship with Advanced Climate Solutions and was enjoying applying his HVAC knowledge to practical use.
From the moment he made his very early arrival he’s been so full of life, love, happiness, passion & purpose. His free time was spent mastering video games while talking smack to his competitors, reading super hero comic to fiction books & researching all things that piqued his curiosity. Tyis had an extensive love for music, he was an exceptional guitar player and vocalist. He loved all genres of music including rock, rap, hip hop, pop & country. His love for football started at a young age, at nine years old he decided he wanted to play, at which time he joined a league through FCCJC. His Sundays were spent at home on the couch with his stepfather Kevon trying to peacefully watch football with a passion for the game. When our favorite NFL team the Super Bowl Champions Kansas City CHIEEEEFS played he would kindly say “momma, they cannot hear you” “momma, chill out” “momma, we are the only ones that can hear you yelling at the tv”.
Tyis is survived by his mother, Maria Harris; father, Cameron Smith; stepfather, Kevon Harris; stepmother, Stephanie Smith; grandparents: Mike and DiAnn Jones, Carl Holder and Paris Smith; two uncles: Jeremy Holder & Shawn Holder; three aunties: Shelonne Clardie, Dorion Smith and Heather Holder. He also leaves behind his twin brother, Tyrail Smith and other siblings Keiffer, Andaya, Nyna, Dayana, Davyen and Kyrie and his closest and favorite cousin Shannon Hawley aka “FAVO”
Tyis is preceded in death by Clarence H. Smith III
Tyis was a true blessing and angel walking among us!
As I Sit In Heaven
As I sit in heaven
And watch you everyday
I try to let you know with signs
I never went away
I hear you when you’re laughing
And watch you as you sleep
I even place my arm around you
To calm you as you weep
I see you wish the days away
Begging to have me home
I try to send you signs
So you know you are not alone
Do not feel guilty that you have
Life that was denied to me
Heaven is truly beautiful
Just you wait and see
So live your life and be free.
Then I’ll know with every breath you take
You will be taking one for me…
