V. Berniece Odom, 82, passed away July 17, 2008, at The University of Kansas Hospital. She was a constant loving, caring presence to her family and friends. Berniece's generosity and concern for others was endearing to all. Her family was always first and foremost in her life and she relished the time spent with them.
Berniece grew up in Roscoe, Missouri and graduated from Roscoe High School at the age of 16. She was employed by Opie Brush Company of Kansas City, Missouri and Curry Mortgage Company. Bernice retired in 1984 and enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing many types of games and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Westwood Christian Church.
Bernice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James F. Odom, who passed away on June 13, 2008, sister Irene Renner, and grandchildren James Kirk Odom and Tammy Cochran. Survivors include children James Larry Odom and wife Cindy, Carol Cochran and husband Mike; grandchildren Matt Cochran and wife Lisa, Kyle Odom, Courtney Odom and great-grandchildren T.J. Mishler and Maddie Cochran.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens at 112th and Metcalf on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 1:30 p.m.
