Velma Irene Chaney Vinyard (95) of Overland Park, KS peacefully passed away meeting her Lord and Savior on Feb. 6, 2014. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday, February 9th. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 10th. Both will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park. Velma was born on September 19th, 1918 in Iberia, MO to Lester and Pearl Grosvenor. Velma lived in St. Louis for several years but spent most of her life in Overland Park KS, where she cared for children in the nursery that she ran for over 20 years. She is preceded in death by parents Lester and Pearl Grosvenor, sister Virginia Martin, brother Lindell Grosvenor and son Douglas Pemberton. She is survived by daughter Brenda Kraft, son David Pemberton, sister Mary Wilcox, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Velma was known for her strong faith in the Lord and her love for family. She loved everything purple, her favorite color. She will be greatly missed.
