Velta Lee Stanley Hutchison, 91, of Raymore, Missouri was born December 27,1933 near Bennington, Kansas to parents Albert and Mildred (Reh) Stanley. On February 5, 2025 she went home to Jesus.
On December 7, 1949 Lee gave her life to Christ, and discovered a love and strength and hope that would help her in good times and bad throughout her life. Lee was a 1951 graduate of Bennington High School. During her high school years she developed a great love and talent for singing. During her senior year, she entered a talent scout competition with KSAL radio in Salina. A few days later she started singing with Gene Fullen and his orchestra.
Later that same year Lee married Bob Dale, and moved to Los Angeles. It was there that Sherry and Yvonne, Lee’s two daughters were born. She continued her singing career for a time in California. As time went on her singing with a dance band shifted to singing with her children whenever they were on road trips back to Kansas.
Once they moved back to the Kansas City area Lee worked in sales with GEM, and Rose Handbags. She then shifted gears and became a paralegal for the Hackler Law Firm. Later on she had a jewelry business in her home.
But wherever she was, you could be sure that every Sunday she was using her God given gift of song, to praise the God she loved so much. See was a devout Christian woman who loved Jesus and her family. She will be greatly missed.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Del Stanley, sister Judy Loy, and her daughter Sherry Cusumano.
She leaves behind her daughter Yvonne Bradley, and husband, Bruce; son-in-law Joseph Cusumano; grandchildren Vincent Cusumano and wife Gabriel, Angelina Bsoul, Sean Bradley, Rodney Bradley and wife Heather, and Christian Bradley; and her great-granddaughters Sofia Cusumano and Astrid Bradley. Visitation will be at 9:00 on Thursday the 13th of February, at Raymore Christian Church followed by a 10 am funeral service with Rev. Raymond Wu officiating.
