Velva DeAtley

July 9, 1932 — February 11, 2018

Velva ‘Jean’ DeAtley passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Kansas City Hospice House.

Jean was born July 9, 1932 in Bolivar, MO to Arthur A. and Dessie V. Pettet, the 8th of 10 children.  She was a longtime resident of Overland Park and Olathe area.

Jean loved her family and her friends who were like family.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, bingo and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jean retired from Travelers Insurance Company and AnsaRing Answering Service.

Jean is survived by her daughter Debra Taylor (Larry), daughter-in-law Maria DeAtley, her grandchildren Eric, Emily, Sarah and Barry and seven great grandchildren, Daniel, Ella, Abigail, Cristian, Brooklynn, Garrett and Connor.  In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Eunice Lassiter and Lela Reed and one brother, Elvin Pettet.  She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond and sons Steven and Timothy.

Funeral service February 15th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, Overland Park, KS.  The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the service.
