Vera Mae Orsborn Doull, 89, of Olathe, KS died on November 23, 2018.
Vera was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 22, 1928 to Mabel Rumbaugh and John Savinorich Orsborn.
Self-sufficient and independent, Vera earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Science (Physiology) from the University of Illinois, and was working on her PhD before marrying her husband John Doull, March 1, 1958. They met over test tubes in a lab and were devoted to each other for 59 years.
After raising her children, Vera was a Research Assistant in the Departments of Biochemistry and Pathology for 8 ½ years at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Vera lived her faith through her actions. She was involved in numerous philanthropic organizations including her church, community outreach groups, and was a longtime member of the KU Medical Center Auxiliary, serving as President in the 70s.
Her zest for life included travelling with John. Whether it was Egypt or London, China or Finland, Vera was always planning the next thing. Be it a trip, a party or book club meeting, Vera never slowed down.
She was a faithful wife, and loving mother who encouraged everyone she knew to make the most of their God-given gifts.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Doull, brother, James Douglas Orsborn, infant brother, Charles Edward Orsborn, granddaughter, Lauren Doull.
Vera is survived by daughter, Ellen (J. Todd) Winter, son, John (Annette) Doull, son, James (Marti) Doull, grandchildren, Sarah (Darren) Heavey, Rachel (TJ) Renne, James Doull, Patrick Doull, John V. (Mandy) Doull, Amanda Doull, Matt (Annmarie) Doull, John Van Keuren (Sara) Winter, Nicholas Winter, Ryan (Kendall) Winter, and great-grandchildren, Ella Doull, Avie Doull, Remi Doull, Jake Holzinger, Addison Heavey, and Emmeline Heavey.
Visitation with the family will be at Indian Heights United Methodist Church at 10211 Nall, Overland Park KS from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 1. Service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, at the same location. Graveside visitation, family only, before services. In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcome to Indian Heights United Methodist Church at 10211 Nall, Overland Park KS 66207.
