Verna Marie Lietzen Miller of Mission, KS passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at her home. Marie was born November 10, 1932 to Minnie (Storz) and Max Lietzen in Bonner Springs, KS. She was the baby of the family and fortunate to have grown up with six older brothers and a half-sister. “Sis”, a nickname fondly given to her by her older brothers, graduated from Bonner Springs High School.
Her career at Townley Metal and Hardware in the River Market spanned over thirty years until the early 1980’s. At the time of her death, she still was working part-time. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marie was extremely dedicated to her family, very hard working and fiercely independent never asking for help from anyone.
She is survived by her two daughters Denise Lydick and Lisa Easley (Charles), two grandsons Geoff Lydick (Amanda), Tyler Easley (Danielle), three granddaughters Katie Bishop (Ryan), Anna Nelson (Sam), Halle Easley (Jon) , and two great grandsons Jaxson and James Bishop.
Marie will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made online to Children's Mercy Hospital. The website is https://childrensmercy.org/help-our-kids/make-a-gift .
