Victor H. Shelton, 91, Overland Park, passed away Sunday, March 4th at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Vic was born in Braysmill, Missouri July 28, 1916. He was the 6th of 8 children. The older siblings have passed away in order of age which leave 2 younger siblings, Marie Gatschet and Woodrow Shelton.
Vic came to Kansas City to work for the Ford Motor Co., it eventually shut down because of the war and he found employment at the Sante Fe Railroad as a freight man and eventually conductor, he retired from Sante Fe and quite often traveled via the Sante Fe Railroad. Vic and his wife Iris also traveled by trailer and plane with his sister and brother-in-law to many places abroad.
Vic belonged to many clubs including the Shriners, Scottish Rite, Masons, Jokers Club, and the RR & Old Times Club who met at McDonalds every Friday.
He loved to fish, golf, garden, and keep water and food ready for the birds. He will be missed by so many people, especially his wife of 71 years, Iris, he will leave a void in so many lives. He would want us all to have a wonderful life. So Vic is now with the Angels and possibly still helping us.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8th, at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the chapel. Entombment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens indoor mausoleum following the funeral service.
