Virgil Leroy Wesley, 88 of Overland Park, KS passed away September 24th, 2015 at his home. Services will be held at Johnson County Chapel and Memorial Gardens 11200 Metcalf Avenue Overland Park, KS. Saturday September 26, 2015. Visitation will be held at 10:00am followed by a service. Burial will be following in Ontario, Kansas.
Virgil was born in Noyes, Minnesota on September 1, 1927. Later Dad spent his summers on the farm in Bancroft KS owned and managed by his grandparents. Anyone who knew Virgil knew how much he loved his grandparent’s farm and they would hear his many wonderful memories and adventures growing up on the farm.
Virgil graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945 and transferred from high school to serve in the United States Navy as a shipfitter 3rd class (CB) (Welder) from 1945-1946. After leaving the service he married his wife Christine (Blevins) Wesley in 1947. They went on to have 7 children.
Virgil worked for A&P grocers prior to starting a construction company were he built fine homes in Kansas City, KS. Virgil and his wife Christine spent many successful years buying and remodeling homes for profit. Later he and Christine acquired many rental properties, which keep Virgil very busy. He loved teaching all his kids how to fix up houses. Virgil was always kind and thoughtful. You could tell by the way he cared for the needs of others.
Virgil and Christine had seven children. Russell E Wesley 1951, LouAnna J. Wesley Davis 1953, John M Wesley 1959, Laura A Wesley Chaney 1961, Louise A Wesley Avery 1963, Christine A Wesley 1968 and Marvin L Wesley 1969 and between the children there were born 25 grand children and many great grand children. Virgil had a long and happy life and he loved his family.
He lived in Overland Park Kansas since 1981 and loved to Karaoke with his family. He met Mike Smith who owned a singing company and together they spent many happy years singing together. During his lifetime Virgil has made many friends and will be missed dearly by all.
