Virginia M. Bracken, Kansas City, Mo., died November 15, 2007.
Virginia was born April 20, 1916, in Chicago, Ill. She attended Case Western University in Ohio. On November 2, 1946, she married John H. Bracken and Kansas City became her home. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed every moment with them. Virginia had a heart of gold and gave unconditional love to all. She will be missed but her memory will live on. Virginia retired as Paymaster for A&P Kansas City Region in 1980. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader, and a devoted member of her book club. She also loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. Virginia was ready to help anyone in need and volunteered at Baptist hospital and St. Elizabeth's Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Bracken in 1985 and her brothers John and Alan Markman. She is survived by her brother William and his wife Joan Markman of Lenexa; her six children: John and Karen Bracken, of Barrington, R.I., Andy and Alice Bracken, of Kansas City Mo., Bill and Kathy Bracken, Mundelein, Ill., Barbara and Mike Sharkey, Kansas City, Mo., Susan Bracken and Janet Gilmore, Denver, Colo., Pat and Kathy Bracken, Geneva, Switzerland; her 11 grandchildren: Tom, Paul, Sam, and Becky Bracken, Gina Brodhum, John, Susie, and Steve Sharkey, Alexandra, Natalie, and Sophie Bracken, and Logan Pilger.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Village Health Care Center for their loving care. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 75th and Main, Kansas City. Visitation will begin an hour prior at the church, with a rosary to be said at 12:30 p.m. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan.
