Virginia Goos

Virginia (Ginny) Lee Stinton Goos, Overland Park, Kansas, died peacefully of natural causes September 9, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House while surrounded by her loving family. Celebration of Life service will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel at 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS at 10 am Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Ginny will be missed by all but none more than her husband of 65 years. Preceded in death by her parents, Lester Stinton and Vera Stinton Stevens, she is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) Goos, and four children; Richard Goos Jr. (Linda), Jeanne Gates (Larry), Marcia Davis (Dennis), and Mary Kay Brown (Dave). She will be greatly missed by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, on August 4, 1927, Ginny graduated from Central High School and attended Iowa State University where she majored in Home Economics. Married on September 3, 1947, she and Dick made their home in Council Bluffs, Iowa for over 60 years where she was a homemaker and community volunteer. In 2005, Ginny and Dick moved to Overland Park, KS to be closer to family.

She was a selfless daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and volunteer. Whether welcoming a new baby, nursing the sick, or helping a friend or family member in need-- she was there for all.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
