Virginia Lee Michael
August 24, 1925 – November 16, 2016
Virginia L. (Findley) Michael went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Carrollton, Texas at the age of 91. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, followed by a graveside service in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. She was the third daughter of six children born to James Henry Findley and Nina E. (Young) Findley, Virginia was born August 24, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri. After graduating from Springfield High School in May of 1942 she worked for the telegraph company. She met the love of her life her senior year in high school, B. D. “Mick” Michael “her soulmate” and they were married on August 5, 1944 in Springfield, Missouri. Together they shared more than 52 years of marriage in the Kansas City area-Overland Park and Olathe, Kansas.
Virginia provided a warm and loving home for all her family. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri. Virginia (Ginny) was very supportive of the United States veterans and their families. For ten years Virginia assisted the Volunteers of America and the Laura Dexter Home in Tulsa by sewing Christmas stockings and baby blankets. She was a member of the Boston Avenue Methodist Church and enjoyed listening to Dr. Mouson Biggs. Virginia loved to play dominos and canasta and enjoyed afternoon socials.
Virginia leaves cherished and loving memories with her son Marty D. Michael and wife Gail of Carrollton, Texas; her daughter, Cynthia A. Ward and husband Glenn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; Andrea (Michael) Gomez and husband Juan of Bentonville, Arkansas; Nick Michael and wife Brittany of Plano, Texas; and Tyler Michael of Carrollton, Texas. Two sisters: Betty Brinkman of Springfield, Missouri; Mary Crites of Junction City, Kansas; and brother James H. (Jim) Findley of Harrisonville, Missouri; three great grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and caring friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mick, sister, Kathy Nelson and brother Jerry D. Findley.
Virginia (Ginny) will be deeply missed - a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, a cherished aunt and loving sister.
