Virginia Lois Young

Virginia Teaney Young passed away August 28, 2024.

 Virginia was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 6, 1930 to William G. and Hazel V. Teaney. She attended Southwest High School, class of 1947, and Kansas City Junior College. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles and Bill, and husband of 73 years, Frank A. Young.

 Virginia cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. Southwest High School and EDB reunions were special for her. And she was always ready for a good game of bridge.

 Virginia’s charitable interests centered around children, specifically Children’s Mercy Hospital and Gordon Parks Elementary School.

 She is survived by three children, Cliff (Kathy) and their sons, Bryan (Melissa), Geoff and Dan; Connie and her sons, Brad (Emily), Andrew (Ann) and Josh (Liz); Curt (Jill) and their children, Kaedi, Hank and Annie; and five great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Max, Paige, Bryn and Mia.

 The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to Gordon Parks Elementary School, 3715 Wyoming, Kansas City, MO 64111 (gordonparks.org) or Children’s Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108 (childrensmercy.org).

 She will be missed.
