Virginia "Ginny" Ecord

Virginia “Ginny” Davis-Jones-Ecord, 86, passed away on April 12, 2018. She was born on February 7, 1932 to Richard and Elsie Davis in Kansas City, Kansas.

Virginia graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1951. After high school she worked for Southwestern Bell for 4 years. In 1954 she married Russell (Cotton) Jones who died in 1972. Russell and Virginia had two children, David Jones who lives in New York and Vicki Jones who died in 2009. Virginia married Merle Ecord in 1976. Merle and Virginia lived in Kansas City, Kansas until 1992 when they moved to Olathe, Kansas. They went on many trips from 1976-2002 and traveled through all 50 states and went on 7 cruises. She was a member of the Olathe Christian Church. Virginia worked for the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium selling event tickets from 1979 to 1997. She also worked for the Araret Shrine Temple as their Shrine Circus ticket manager from 1982-1997. In 2003 she became disabled and Merle became her caregiver. In 2012 she entered the Pink-Bud Nursing Home in Greenwood, Arkansas.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Richard Davis, Jr. and William Davis; and her daughter, Vicki Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Merle; son, David Jones; and grandson, Drew Jones.

A visitation will be held from 8-9 AM, service 9 AM, on Saturday, April 21, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Olathe Christian Church, 1115 S Ridgeview Rd, Olathe, KS 66062.
