W. Marie Brown, 90, passed away on Thursday August 24, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on July 28, 1927 and was preceded in death by her parents , Clyde and Pearl Nichols and sister, Velva. She is survived by her husband, Glenn H. Brown, three daughters, Glenna Weis, Karen Peterson and Diana McPherson, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two sisters, Naomi Green and Retha Hustad. She met the love of her life in junior high whom she married 70 years ago. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was President of the Flint Grade School PTA , Blue Bird Leader, Junior Old Timers President for the Union Pacific Railroad, and Women's Optimist Club President. She loved ceramics, playing bridge and spending a day at the casinos with her friends. Many of her ceramics are prize possessions by her friends and family.
Marie always had a smile on her face. Her friends at her care center always knew her as the "lady in red" as that was her favorite color to wear. She will be missed greatly by all of those she touched through her happy, caring and often humourous interactions.
Visitation followed by Memorial Services will be held Saturday August 26th at 4:00 pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel located at 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas.
