Walter Kent Pobanz died peacefully is his sleep in Silvercrest at Collegeview, Lenexa, KS on October 2, 2017 at the age of 89.
Kent, as he was known to family and friends, is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ardith; daughters, Kenette Weigel (Jim) of Overland Park, KS, Ann Pobanz (Jim Reed) of Huntsville, UT, grandchildren, Natalie Grant (John) of Olathe KS, Joe Weigel (Janelle) of Overland Park KS, Erinn Legendre (Jared) of Mandeville, LA, Shannon White of New Orleans, LA, Austin White of San Francisco, CA and 6 great grandchildren, Jolie, Jovie, Bree, Greyson, Cade, and Jules. Kent was born on March 1, 1928 in Moline IL. He was raised in Colona, IL and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1945. He married Ardith J Bound of Prophetstown, IL in 1949. They set up their household in Colona where they welcomed two daughters into their home and raised them there until 1964 when the family moved to Ballwin, MO. There, Kent continued to work for his long time employer, Engineered Air Systems Inc., which eventually led to him becoming Vice President of Sales. Kent had always liked sports. When in Colona, he pitched for many years for his beloved fast-pitch softball team. He played golf at Geneseo Country Club and also at Fox Creek Golf Club in Ballwin and was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was an avid investor in American equities and loved to teach his children and grandchildren about his well researched secrets to successful investing in the stock market.
