Walter Judson “Jay” Roseberry III, 63, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Hospital, with his wife and daughter by his side. Jay was born on September 14, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Walter Judson Roseberry II and Harriet Geraldine Roseberry. He spent his childhood in Minneapolis, MN, and moved to the Kansas City area with his family in the mid-1960s. He attended Shawnee Mission South High School where he met his wife, Elaine Suzanne Mize. They were married in October of 1981 at Valley View United Methodist Church in Overland Park, KS. They enjoyed nearly 36 wonderful years of marriage, during which time they had one daughter, Emily Suzanne Roseberry. He and his wife moved to Prairie Village in 1983, where they have lived happily ever since. Jay was a professional plumber, handyman, and generally a “Jack of all Trades”. He loved to fish and be at the lake, play cards, and tinker in his garage. He was a charter member of the Mission Men’s Glee Club, and loved getting together once a month to play poker with his friends. He loved all animals, especially his dogs. Throughout his life, he had several dogs that he rescued, loved and cared for. He had the best sense of humor, such a quick wit, and could always be counted on for a good laugh. He was reliably true to himself and his family, and he always lived life on his own terms. He was an outstanding husband, father and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents.
Jay is survived by his wife, Elaine Roseberry; his daughter Emily Roseberry of Overland Park, KS; his sister Jackie Frazier and her husband, Don Frazier Jr., of Lenexa, KS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., service to start at 6:00 p.m., at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel located at 11200 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park.
