Walter W. Turner, age 72, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011. He was born on October 1, 1938 in Graymont, GA, the son of Louise (Renew) and Inman Turner.
Walt (Pop) loved cooking, watching football and spending time with his wife and family. Although Walt (Pop) was a man of few words, when he did speak it was worth listening to.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Turner of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Rena Martin of Overland Park, KS and Red Leos and her husband, Brian, of Overland Park, KS; son, Kelly Gillaspie and his wife, Lisa, of Waco, TX and brother in law Gary Lee Saunders, of Gary, TX; grandchildren, J.T. Martin and his wife, Alysa, Justin Martin, Cody Dague, Niko Kindred, Marie Reyes, Dawnica Matthews and Lucas-Christopher Kindred and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son in law, Jon Martin, his brother in law Elliot C. Saunders and extended family, Ray Gillaspie and Billy Gillaspie.
Funeral Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, September 8 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. Burial will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Avenue, Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133
