Wanda Hermann-Verbeck peacefully passed on from this life November 2, 2018 at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. She is survived by her husband Richard Verbeck. They were best friends for 45 years, married in 2002 and remained loving and caring to each other into their golden years. Also surviving is daughter Stephanie Brennecke (husband Kirk Brennecke), and daughter Jenifer Kyte (partner Eileen Casper).
At the age of 15, she began a lifelong love of floral arranging while working at her mother's flower shop in Columbia, Missouri. While a student at the University of Missouri, she was a member of the cheerleading squad and a finalist for the Miss Mizzou Pageant. She was also a dance instructor at the Peeler Studio in Columbia during this time.
Wanda met her first husband Jerry Hermann, a fellow student at Mizzou and member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. After leaving Mizzou, Wanda became a flight attendant for North American Airlines. Wanda left the airline after she and Jerry decided to begin a family. However, she remained quite active as a campfire leader, golfer, bowler, softball coach, block mother, PTA president, organizer of the first Headstart in Johnson County, Kansas, square dancer, and animal rights advocate as well as dog trainer. Unfortunately, Jerry passed away suddenly in 1996. A loving compassionate wife, mother, and friend.
In lieu of flowers she requested donations to Mo-Kanpetpartners.org , a non-profit organization specializing in hospice therapy dogs.
