Willard Oris Beaman, 88, Lenexa, Kan., passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, after several falls and complications.
Willard was born February 16, 1920, in Butler Co., Kan. He married Vivian Johnson in October 1942. They were happily married for 65 years. He graduated from Ottawa University and joined the Navy the week after Pearl Harbor. Willard was a Navy Officer in World War II and served 2 and a 1/2 years in the Pacific on LST 482. After serving in the Navy he went to work for Mobil Oil and retired after 35 years. Willard enjoyed traveling, bowling, and spending the summer in the mountains of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina and Lawrence; his brother, Vernon Beaman; sisters, Freda Beaman and Wilma Herndon. Survivors include his wife, Vivian; two sister-in-laws, Joy Beaman of Longmont, Colo., and Doris Bentz and husband Bob of Cascade, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. Willard was a joy to everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Visitation will begin an hour prior to service times. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
