William Crouch

August 7, 1950 — December 15, 2012

William Michael "Bill" Crouch, 62, of Leawood, KS, passed away December 15, 2012 at his home due to complications from a neurological condition. Bill was born August 7, 1950, in Kansas City, MO. He received his first undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University, with a second earned from Rockhurst University in Business Accounting. He received a Master's degree in Business from the University of Kansas, earning membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive. Bill proudly served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Detroit, MI, focusing on white-collar crime and fraud cases. He returned to Kansas City to assume the position of Director of Internal Auditing for BMA, and remained with the company for 30 years. He was the Senior Vice-President of Administration and Information Technology for BMA/Generali Re USA Life at the time of his retirement in 2009. Bill was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, craftsman, member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and a K-State Wildcat. Bill was a student of life, intellectually curious about history and space travel, and everyone's favorite Trivial Pursuit game partner. He loved to laugh, and did so at every opportunity. Bill was part of a lineage of Crouch men who unabashedly and deeply love their children, beginning with Bill's father, Rex, and enduring with Bill, his brother Doug, and their five treasured children. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Rex Crouch, and his mother-in-law, Mary Anne Meeker. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Meeker) Crouch, sons Brian and Jeffrey, daughter Julia, daughter-in-law Ashley Crouch, grandson Miles Crouch, mother Elfrieda Crouch, brother Douglas Crouch, in-laws Don and Bette Meeker, sister-in-laws Kathy Fetters and Anne Meeker, nephews Brent Crouch, Andy Miller, Greg Miller, Kevin Miller, niece Haley Crouch, many cousins including Robin Olsen, who was like a sister to Bill, and his beloved golden retriever Remington. The family wishes to thank Bill's dedicated medical team, including Dr. Neal Erickson, Dr. Charles Conrad and Dr. Jason Day. Deep gratitude is also extended to his home health care professionals, Mary Ann Thies, Kelly Schaefer and Chris Ritter. These three became members of our extended family. Throughout Bill's lengthy illness, he chose joy. He was a shining example of kindness, perseverance and sacrifice, to everyone around him. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, at the Wesley Chapel of The Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave. Leawood, KS, 66224.
