William F. Holwegner, 86, of Leawood, KS accomplished his mission to join the love of his life, Lettie, on July 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He died at his home in the company of his loving daughters, Leigh Alexander, Topeka, KS and Lynn Blaser, Bucyrus, KS.
Bill was born and raised in McLaughlin, South Dakota to the late Henry and Amanda Holwegner. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by a brother. Bill served in the Korean War having been stationed in Hawaii. He met Lettie in Pierre, S.D. and they were married for 54 years before she passed away in 2011.
With his passion for construction, he and his family lived in several states until settling in Kansas in 1966. He ultimately retired as a co-owner of Botsford Ready Mix.
His favorite past times were enjoying his family and pets, work, helping his daughter, Lynn, at her business (A & M Home Furnishings), a good Chief’s game, a bowl of chili from Dixon’s and his monthly breakfast buddies, especially Beverly and Don. His gentle spirit shall be greatly missed.
Per his desire, no service is planned. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to www.therescueproject.net (for local animals in need) or a charity of your choice.
