William "Jack" Mitchell, age 84, passed away on January 23, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. Services will be held Monday, January 28, 2013, at 1 pm also at the Johnson County Chapel. Interment will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Jack was born on March 6, 1928, in Ardmore, OK. He was an Industrial Arts teacher for 34 years and retired from Turner High School. He served as SGT in the United States Air Force. After retirement he was self employed with Midland Christmas Tree Farm and Mitchell Gravely Repair.
Survivors include his wife, Noveta Mitchell; children, Darrell (Caren), Karen (Reginald) Pare, Keith (Corie, deceased), Alane (Scott) Eifler; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerome and Charles; and sisters, Ruth and Jeanette.
