William T. Oxley (Bill) Jr.
JR. Bill passed away on August 12, 2009, at 12:10 a.m. at Olathe Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel. Private burial will be held at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Bill was born on May 1, 1923, in Atchison, Kan., to William Thomas Oxley, Sr. and Lola Edith Buzard. He was raised by Frank and Lydia Graf from the ages of 9-18 in Lohoma, Okla. He married Betty J. McNally on Jan. 11, 1964. They were happily married for 45 years. Bill was an Army veteran of WWII and a survivor of D-Day. He retired from Southwestern Bell after working for them for 33 1/2 years and only missing one day of work. He loved his family and friends, square dancing, westerns, camping, boating, Arizona and Lapendary. Bill was a member of American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers. He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughters, Katherine Tyler and husband Bud, Cheryl Parks and husband Frank, Pam Hecht and husband Mark, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
