William Phelps, Sr

William Clay Phelps, Sr., age 88, of KC, KS passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. He was born on May 17, 1923 in KC, KS, the son of Ella L. (Kirkpatrick) and William L. Phelps. William worked as a construction superintendent and was a member of the VFW, the Carpenters District Local #61, where he earned his 50 year gold Card. He was also a member of the American Legion and he served in WWII.
Survivors include his spouse, Dorothy Phelps; sons, John Phelps (Cindy), William C. Phelps, Jr. (Debbie) and Lee Phelps; daughters, Billie Jo Cherico, Connie Blanton, Brenda Fee (Larry) and; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2011 at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Burial will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
