William (Bill) Franklin Pierce, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Wichita, KS.
A service will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at 1:00 pm, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS.
Bill was born February 26, 1929 in Salina, KS to Otis and Marguerite Pierce. He lived in the Salina area until he graduated 8th grade and the family moved to Wichita. Bill graduated from Wichita East High School in 1947. He was a Korean War vet. He graduated from Emporia State Teachers College in 1957. He married his wife Charlotte, moved to Overland Park, KS and began his teaching career in Prairie Village as a 6th grade teacher. He worked in Stilwell as an assistant principal, 7th and 8th grade teacher and a coach. In 1962 he became an Elementary principal in the Spring Hill, KS school district, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed camping, teaching science and watching musicals. In 2006 he and Charlotte moved to Wichita.
He is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte. He is survived by daughters Cindy (Dennis) Arnold and Becky (Dennis) Laytham, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
